Mammoth Donkeys
We specialise in the rare breed American Mammoth Jackstock riding donkeys. These are the world's largest breed of
donkey. The Mammoths are incredibly strong, but like their other donkey relatives are still exceptionally gentle
and people friendly and are very calm animals to ride out on. We have 8 trail riding trained Mammoth Jennys that
are available for booked rides these vary in personality to suit the riders abilities. We also have gentle,
smaller, standard donkeys for the very little ones to have a ride on. Weight limits do apply per donkey.
Some of our mammoth donkeys are available for hire for special events such as, television productions,
photographers, theatre, Church productions and fêtes etc.
They are incredibly well behaved in large crowds and in both the countryside or city.
Importing
Our foundation herd of mammoths all had to be imported from the USA. All the donkeys had to go through a month
long quarantine at a US Government approved Isolation Centre which included thorough medicals, blood tests and
examinations before they were allowed to fly to the EU. Not all animals pass quarantine. We ourselves have had
several otherwise very fit and healthy animals fail at the last hurdle. It is very sad when this happens - and
very expensive when you have already paid for the animal and flights etc in advance!
The donkeys were flown in on special flights. Again, It is a very expensive process with additional costs
mounting up all the time along the way. We advise that you research these costs carefully before deciding to
import from abroad - Quarantine, Vets fees, cargo handling, flights, import costs, Tax etc etc all add up. These
cost are generally double or triple the purchase price of any animal! We never totally relax during the whole
export/import process until our animals are finally safely here at the Farm with us.

Meet The Girls ...
We are lucky enough to have our own herd of Mammoth Jennies imported from the USA. They vary from between 14-16 hands
at the moment - some still have some growing to do!
W W Jokers Wild Starburst (Star) is a very well bred 58" 3yr old spotted
mammoth Jenny imported from Texas USA in the Autumn of 2010. She is very sweet natured.
Star is very well marked and unusually for a mammoth donkey still sports
the Traditional 'Cross' along her back and shoulders.
Thank you very much to Charlotte and Gary for letting us give a home to this lovely girl.
Oklahoma Annie, Ellie and Judy
are the largest donkeys standing at just around the 15.2 to over 16 hands mark. Both
Annie and Judy are black with
oatmeal points. Ellie is spotted. All are broken to ride.
Annie is trained to drive.
Our beautiful girl Ellie had an enormous beautiful Chocolate Jack colt on 6 June 2010.
Purdy is a dappled sorrel Jenny who was trained to go hunting up in the
Rocky mountains, she would cross streams, stand still whilst the hunter shoots from the saddle, she would then
carry home both her rider and a full grown deer! (Very useful now in rural Dorset!)
Born 04/05/2011 Beautiful strong, red jack colt Waldronz Hero
- the spitting image of his daddy Louis!
Dixie and Smoke Signal are the
youngest. Dixie is a red sorrel Jenny;
Smokey is a 3 yr old coloured Mammoth jenny - she enjoys
a cuddle! Both are very sweet and love attention. They are excellent children's donkeys.
Baudet du Poitou donkey
Last but not least ...
Delilah is the most beautiful tiny standard donkey. She is traditional
gray with lovely tan markings. She is very gentle and has lovely conformation. Delilah qualifies in the
miniature bracket, as she is only 35 inches. (Bless her!)

Donkeys are herd animals and ideally must live in pairs with another donkey or an equine that he/she will get on
with. A lonely donkey is a sad donkey. We will not sell a donkey to a home without other equine company.
Donkeys' coats are not waterproof and therefore do get waterlogged. They are designed for a desert, not British
rainstorms! Donkeys must have access to a shelter at all times.
Like horses, donkeys' feet are very important and must be picked out and trimmed regularly in order to maintain
good health. A farrier with experience in donkeys' feet - as they do differ considerably to horses' - is the
best option for regular trimming.
Never overfeed a donkey. Lush pastures look wonderful but will do your donkey no good at all, and could lead to
all sorts of medical problems including laminitis. Barley straw is the best form of food source alongside some
rations of good hay and plenty of fresh drinking water.
Donkeys love attention and grooming and all donkeys seem to thrive on a bit of exercise. Don't overdo it though.
Your donkey does also need plenty of time to be a donkey and to relax, rest and play with other donkey friends.
Donkeys can live for many years. Please bear that in mind before you buy a donkey of any shape, size or colour!
